A prior year tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax. Use a separate envelope for each tax year being mailed. Federal and state tax return are separate with different mailing address for each return. You should use a tracking service available from the US Post Office so that you will have proof the tax returns have been received by either the IRS or the State.
For tax year 2023 you can use either the TurboTax online or desktop CD/Download editions. A 2023 tax return can be e-filed at any time on or before October 15, 2024. After that date the return can only be printed and mailed.
