Error 42015: Could not connect to the update site; the proxy name could not be resolved: 'http'

Could not connect to the update site (Error 42015: The proxy name could not be resolved: 'http') occurs when attempting to update TurboTax.

This error occurs if the specified proxy server is invalid or TurboTax is unable to connect using the proxy server.

Solution

1. Open the Control Panel and select Network and Internet
2. Select the Internet Options
3. Select the Connections tab and then the LAN settings button
4. Clear the Use a proxy server for your LAN checkbox and select OK twice
5. Update TurboTax again

If you're still having update problems or can't connect to the internet, repeat the preceding steps, except this time select the box in step 4. Then download a manual update.
