Getting to know Credit Karma Money™

SOLVEDby TurboTax1133Updated January 13, 2023

A checking account1 with Credit Karma Money™, or a Credit Karma Money Spend account is one of the easiest ways to get your tax refund after filing with TurboTax Online. You can access your account with the Credit Karma app and pay for purchases with the Credit Karma Visa® Debit Card,2 which can be used everywhere Visa is accepted in the U.S.—including online, by phone, and in stores.

Wondering how we get your refund into your Credit Karma Money™ checking account?

When you choose to get your federal tax refund deposited into a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account, TurboTax works with Credit Karma—a fellow Intuit company—and MVB Bank to get your account info to the IRS (and/or the State) so they can deposit your refund into your account. Also, after filing with TurboTax, you could get your refund up to 5 days early3 and can use the Credit Karma refund tracker to see when your federal refund is expected to hit your account.

Not expecting a refund?

Getting a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account still provides plenty of perks you can enjoy. With Credit Karma Money™, you can receive your paycheck up to 2 days early with Early Payday4 and more.

How does Early Payday work?

Setting up direct deposit into your Credit Karma Money™ Spend account automatically makes you eligible for Early Payday. Instead of waiting until your payday to deposit the funds, your funds are posted to your account as soon as they are received, which may be up to two days earlier than the standard payroll electronic deposit. (Note that it usually takes 1 to 2 pay cycles to switch your direct deposit to a new bank account.)
