Can I deduct an in-kind charitable contribution?

SOLVEDby TurboTax897Updated December 22, 2021

An in-kind contribution is the giving of something other than money to a charitable organization. Examples would be the donation of clothes, appliances, household items, your time or your professional services.

If you itemize deductions, you can deduct the fair market value of physical items you contribute and the miles driven for charitable purposes. However, the donation of your time or services is not deductible.
