Error 2203: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error..."

You might see Error 2203:The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package when installing or updating TurboTax for Windows while running antivirus, backup, or other security software.

Solution

Try right-clicking the TurboTax icon and select Run as Administrator.

If that didn't work:

1. Log on to your computer with administrator rights.
2. Temporarily disable your online backup or security software.
3. Install (or update) TurboTax.
4. Re-enable the backup or security software you disabled in step 2.

If the problem persists, download and install a manual update instead.
