If you filed the tax return, the IRS will have a record of the return. If you just need a copy of your return and aren't interested in the filing status, select Download/print return (PDF).
You have a few options to get your status:
- Request a transcript of your return online
- View your tax account
- If the IRS doesn’t have a record of your filed tax return, contact them at 800-829-1040. Visit the IRS's Let Us Help You page to see what information you'll need when you call (located under Telephone and Local Assistance by selecting IRS Phone Numbers)
If you're looking for the filing status of a state return, you'll need to contact the Department of Revenue for that state.
