You can’t file a prior-year return (tax year 2024 or earlier) with TurboTax Online, but you can still file for some years with TurboTax Full Service or one of the TurboTax Desktop products.

If you need to file a prior-year return:

  • Tax years 2023 or 2024:

    • You may be eligible to file these returns with TurboTax Full Service when you hand off your taxes to an expert to file your prior-year return(s) and your 2025 return. Eligibility requirements apply.

  • Tax year 2022, 2023, or 2024:

    • These returns can’t be e-filed with TurboTax Online and must be filed by mail. You can still prepare your 2022 through 2024 taxes using TurboTax Desktop software and follow the instructions to paper-file your return.

See this article for more details on how to file a prior-year return.
