I already filed my tax return
If you have already filed your tax return for the current year, or you have a Sole Proprietorship, you’ll need to send a letter to the IRS notifying them of the name change. Use the address where you filed your return and make sure your letter is signed by the business owner, partner, corporate officer, or an authorized representative.
See Business name change on the IRS website for more details.
