Nebraska Volunteer Emergency Responder Credit
Some Nebraska TurboTax customers have underpaid their state taxes due to an error with the Nebraska Volunteer Emergency Responder Credit.
If we notified you, we recommend you submit an amended state tax return as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties and interest on the unpaid balance.

To correct your return, please follow the steps below.
Use TurboTax to amend your state tax return.
Once you have logged into your TurboTax return and selected to amend the Nebraska return, select the Review tab.
Review the errors found on the return, answering any questions. Please remember that you are not amending your Federal return, so you may continue through these questions.
When you reach the Check This Entry, Volunteer Emergency Resp. screen, enter $250 for the credit.
Continue through the review until completed.
Enter “TO CORRECT THE VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY RESPONDER CREDIT” as the reason for amending.
Follow the instructions provided by TurboTax to print, sign, date and mail the amended state tax return along with the balance due.
Save a copy of your amended state tax return for your records.
