How do I amend my return to fix incorrect charitable contribution limitations?
Due to a TurboTax error, some customers weren't claiming the correct charitable contribution deduction. When a return included both current-year and carryover contributions of capital gain property subject to the 30% AGI limit, the program wasn't correctly calculating the deduction allowed for any prior-year carryover. This caused an overstatement of deductible capital gain contributions reported on Schedule A.
As a result, taxpayers underpaid their federal, and if applicable, their state tax liability.
