How do I check my 2024 tax return to confirm the information on Forms 1099-INT with multiple accounts?
Some customers using import services to extract data from their Form 1099-INT to TurboTax might have incorrect data in their tax return. When using import services, the customer is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the information that is imported (see Terms of Service for details).
If we notified you, we recommend you review your return and, if needed, amend it as soon as possible.
To review the data on your return and determine if an amendment is required, please follow these instructions:
Locate a printed or digital copy of your 2024 tax return.
If needed, you can sign in to TurboTax and download a copy under Your tax returns & documents in Tax Home.
Locate all of the 2024 1099-INT forms that you reported on your 2024 tax return.
If needed, you can sign in to TurboTax and go to Documents to download copies of your 1099-INT forms, or you can retrieve copies from their respective financial institutions.
In a printed or digital copy of your tax return, locate Schedule B.
If you have Schedule B, you’ll need to confirm that, for any 1099-INTs that listed multiple accounts on the form, the amount on Schedule B Part 1 line 1 for that financial institution equals the total amount for the 1099-INT form with multiple accounts. Then go to Step 4.
If you don’t have Schedule B, go to your Form 1040 and look at lines 2a and 2b. Check that the total amount in 2b matches the total of all of your 1099-INT forms for 2024. Be careful to review the 1099-INT forms to make sure you capture the total amount of taxable interest for any forms that have multiple accounts listed.
If the amounts match, no further action is needed. If the amounts don’t match, you’ll need to file an amended tax return to correct the error.
