How do I check my 2024 tax return to confirm the information in box 12 of my W-2?
Some customers using import services to extract data from their W-2 to TurboTax might have incorrect data in their tax return. When using import services, the customer is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the information that is imported (see Terms of Service for details).
If we notified you, we recommend you review your return and, if needed, amend it as soon as possible.
To review the data on your return and determine if an amendment is required, please follow these instructions:
Locate a printed or digital copy of your 2024 tax return.
If needed, you can sign in to TurboTax and download a copy under Your tax returns & documents in Tax Home.
Locate the W-2s that you reported on your 2024 tax return.
If needed, you can sign in to TurboTax and go to Documents to download copies of your W-2s, or you can retrieve copies from the respective payroll provider.
In a printed or digital copy of your tax return, locate the W-2 worksheets for each of the W-2s.
Review the box 12 codes on the W-2s you reported and confirm that they match the box 12 codes on the W-2 worksheets from your return.
If the data matches, no further action is needed. If the data doesn’t match, you’ll need to file an amended tax return to correct the error.
