How do I amend my 2024 Missouri state tax return to fix the Pension and Social Security Exemption?

Some TurboTax customers overpaid their Missouri state taxes due to an error with their pension and Social Security exemption.

If we notified you, we recommend you submit an amended state tax return as soon as possible. By filing an amended return, you’ll be able to get the money back in your pocket where it belongs!

To correct your return, please follow the steps below.

  • Use TurboTax to amend your state tax return.  

    • Enter “TO CLAIM THE PENSION, SOCIAL SECURITY AND SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY EXEMPTION” as the reason for amending.

  • Follow the instructions provided by TurboTax to print, sign and date the amended state tax return. The amended return will need to be mailed to the address provided with the instructions.

  • Save a copy of your amended state tax return for your records.
