Purchased home for son, he’s on deed not mortgage. It’s his principle residence not mine. County assessor asking if its our principle residence. How do I answer county?

If he's on the deed and he lives there, yes its being used as a personal residence, it is not a rental or investment property.

call the assessors office and ask them. it may or may not matter that it is not both of yours principal residence.
