Nanny taxes: we paid the 15.3% for Medicare and SS tax. Our nanny thinks she also paid it on her tax return. Is that even possible for her? Where to check on her return?

Did you give her a W-2? Were the Social Security and Medicare taxes entered in boxes 4 and 6 on the W-2 that you gave her?

Yes, we gave her a W-2 and entered the withholdings there. We'll follow up with SweetieJean's suggestion to talk to a Live representative.

Thanks rjs!

She would have paid it again if she entered the income as self employment income instead of W2 income.  Maybe she just thinks she paid it because it's on the W2?

If she paid it on her return it would probably be as self employment tax on schedule 4 line 57 which goes to 1040 line 14.

Thanks VolvoGirl. I'll ask her to check that on her 1040.
I'm also suspecting that she believes she paid it because it is listed on the W2...

And is the W2 right?  Box 4 should only be 6.2% of box 3 and box 6 should be 1.45% of box 5.
So it's only half the 15.3% total.

Thank you! We will do that.
We were not aware that that service is also available after we filed our taxes.
Thanks!
