How can I enter the "other income" on my 1099-MISC? It is for pet rent and turbo won't let me enter it for real estate income.
I'm using online mode which doesn't allow me to go directly to schedule e. I'm stuck in an endless loop between "review" and trying to add the income on a 1099MISC - which is where it appears.

What box #, on the 1099-Misc, is the money in.
What does "pet rent" mean? Schedule E may not be the right place. The rental of personal property goes on line 21 of Schedule 1.

I went ahead and followed your directions to enter another 1099 - even though the income was included on the same 1099 as the rental income. "Pet rent" is the additional monthly fee for my tenant to have a pet. The property manager listed it separately under "other income" instead of with the rents - and Turbo tax wouldn't allow "other income" as a legitimate field for reporting rental income.

The answer is not correct for your situation. You should treat that as regular rental income, not other income. It belongs on line 3 of Schedule E. The workaround is to enter it in box 1 at the 1099-Misc screen and not box 3.
Ask you rental manager to use box 1 on future 1099-Misc.

Arghh....actually, it didn't work. I still am getting the "review" message and can't override it to finish my taxes.

Instead of entering at the 1099-Misc screen, Enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab
- Wages & Income
Scroll down to:
-Misc Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
- On the next screen, choose – Other reportable income
-For description enter Other income (or "personal property rent", if more appropriate) in box # (whichever box your income is in) of 1099-Misc. It goes on line 21 (Sch 1) of form 1040.
