Is California SDI (shown in W2 box 14) a part of CA State Income Tax (box 17), or is it a tax on top of State Income Tax?

It is a separate tax. If you itemize then it is a deductible state tax. If you cannot itemize then it makes no difference at all.

It is a separate tax. If you itemize then it is a deductible state tax. If you cannot itemize then it makes no difference at all.
