How do I get 2018 Turbotax Deluxe to print form 8283 with the schedule A for Cailf state return. All previous answers are for past years

I filled out schedule A which did print even though I was guided to take the new standard deduction for my federal.  I let Turbo value my detailed chartable donations.

The issue you describe shows as having been resolved. Please check for updates and see if that eliminates the problem.

If not, switch to "Itemized" for the federal and see if Form 8283 is available. If it is, print it and then switch back to taking the Standard deduction. If Form 8283 is not included with your CA return, you may need to print and mail the CA return with the 8283 you printed.

The issue is certainly not resolved.  TurboTax 2019 does NOT auto-fill 8283 forms for CA state taxes that need a Schedule A.   The Intuit person with whom I spent hours on the phone did not know of any way to switch the federal between "Itemized" and "Standard".   She said she wasn't a CPA, but she insisted that if I took the "Standard" on the federal, I could not itemize on the state.  Wrong!   She did offer to send me a blank 8283... with instructions.  Thanks!  Finally, I managed to fake some large deductions on the federal return to force TurboTax into allowing me to itemize.  Only then did it generate the 8283's, which I submitted to the state.  This is b*llsh*t.

This has not been solved in turbotax 2020, 2021.  Whats worse, it has not been recognized by turbotax that it is an issue, despite MANY posts identifying this bug.  Turbotax experts continually state an incorrect answer and ignore posts correcting them.

This is my 3rd post on the issue, hoping turbotax one year might note the bug.

This is the bug in a nutshell - Turbotax WILL NOT include the 8283 in your state return if you itemize in your state and take the standard deduction in your federal.   You CANNOT efile and get the 8283 included, even if you populate the 8283.  Turbotax refuses to acknowledge this issue.

Form 8283 is populated if you have non-cash charitable contributions.   BUT if you take the federal standard deduction, it is NOT included in the efile. nor printed out.  The issue is that many states allow you to itemize (and it saves $ to do so) even if you dont itemize in your federal return. You are required by the state to include the 8283 from your federal return if you itemize.  The only way to do this is to print out your state return to mail, include your printed federal return and add a printed copy of the 8283. You CANNOT e-file your state return through turbotax.  You can e-file your state return with other software packages, just not turbotax.
