How do I split the dividends received in a joint account with my brother?

Assuming both your names and social security numbers are on your statement, divide the amounts in half. If not, when you enter your dividend you can make some adjustments. See screenshots. On your Schedule D, it will subtract the amount you adjusted in Part II as a nominee distribution.

Thanks, that's helpful! So assuming we're talking about $2000 ordinary dividends and $1000 Qualified Dividends, I'd enter an adjustment of $1500?
