Do I have to file 1098e when turbotax will make me upgrade to deluxe?

I only paid $106 in interest so will get approximately $16 added to my refund, but to upgrade to deluxe it will cost $60, so I'll end up losing money. Do I really need to file the 1098e? What will happen if I don't?

No, you are not required to claim your student loan interest reported on Form 1098-E.  It is true that in order to do so with TurboTax, you would be required to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition.
