If you purchase a genuine copy of TT H&B on eBay and the disc doesn't work like so many others, is it true that you can't access the download from customer support?

Hello, I resell items on eBay and purchased several copies of TT at a retailer. I have sold several copies and haven't had an issue, but now I have a buyer stating that her CD will not load and she contacted TT and they will not help her because it was purchased on eBay. It was a retail disk with packaging brand new in box. I know for sure it is genuine, is it true TT can't help her access a downloadable copy?

If you sold the disc to someone and you are not an TTax authorized re-seller then you are responsible to your customer.

TTax has no responsibility or liability since you are not authorized to sell (re-sell) their product.

I am not trying to hold TT liable, I am just trying to resolve an issue for my customer after they purchased a TT product.

The point is your customer purchased the disc from YOU, not from TTax and TTax never authorized you to re-sell their product/intellectual property.  You as an unauthorized re-seller should resolve the issue for YOUR customer.

Okay, I am not trying to get in a flame war on the TT website, I am simply wanting to know how to fix this. For example, I have seen multiple threads about people's disc not running when they insert it into the disc drive. There are steps with this that they can call customer support and resolve. I understand it was purchased from me, but it is the exact same product as from Wal-Mart and Target. I am just asking since it is a genuine product, do they still get the same treatment if they can provide the code on the front of the disc. I do not have it in front of me to verify so I am coming to this forum.

Since you are not authorized to sell TTax products, TTax has no responsibility to your customer.  

That responsibility is yours to deal with.  

Simply refund the purchase price to your customer and suggest that when they buy cheap, they get what they pay for.
