Can I E-file a form 1041 and mail in an IRC 751 schedule to support my basis calculation for a sale of a PTP? TT won't let me attach it like it does the 8453-EF.

I am trying to avoid printing out a 48 page return in order to attach 1 page to support a basis calculation.

Here is a suggested technique to e-file the 751 statement.

In Forms Mode, bring up the 1040 wks..
Scroll down to line 58 and click on the “Explain “ button next to reporting tips.
This will bring up the “Explanation Statement.”
Type in the info using the following as a guide.

“In lieu of reporting tips, herein is the required statement
pursuant to the sale of Partnership units.

                 IRC Section 751 Statement

The taxpayer has reported ordinary income upon the disposition
of units of XYZ Partners, LP, as provided by the
General Partner. The amount was determined in accordance
with Internal Revenue Code Section 751 and the detailed
information is available in the offices of the General Partner
upon request.”

Close the form and it will be attached to the 1040 for e-filing.

@rogge1722  Excellent idea! However, it appears as if the OP is using TurboTax Business so I have submitted another answer here with a screenshot using your concept. Thanks!

In TurboTax Business, enter Forms Mode. open the Additional Information form, and prepare it as SuperUser Rogge1722 outlined in the answer (see screenshot).
