I already filed taxes few days ago with another service, then received additional tax documents. Will it cost me to start over and amend my filing with TurboTax?

I originally filed with TaxSlayer and paid them to file my taxes, and when I attempted to start an amended return learned it would cost an additional $45 and that NYS requires that I manually print and mail the amendment. 

If I switch to TurboTax can I avoid the $45 fee?

To amend a return in TurboTax that was originally completed using a different service, you would first have to open an account and then prepare a return in TurboTax that exactly matched the return you filed with TaxSlayer. Once you get it to exactly match, then you can start an amended return. 

You may need to pay for the account to prepare your matching original return unless you are able to use the Free Edition. What you can do with the free edition is fairly limited. Look at your return you did with TaxSlayer. Were there any Schedules 1-6 in that tax return? If there were, you would have to upgrade to at least Deluxe in TurboTax which is $39.99   for federal and $39.99 for state. There would be no additional fee to amend the return unless the additional tax documents you received required an upgrade to higher than Deluxe.

Is any way turbo tax can make a video of step by step how to make a amended  for 2020 if i use other tax software , i have that same problem I did my taxes with tax slayer  but when i want to  do a amended my 2020 tax  cost$42 and is by mail because  they don't have efile amended service . When i transfer all my info to turbo tax  my return money is always less than tax slayer , that means I missing something . . That’s why I request that video . Thanks .
