Can I trust the TurboTax Deluxe download version sold by Amazon?

Yes you can trust it. Amazon is an authorized re-seller of TurboTax software. Amazon sells Deluxe with or without state for those who live in a state with no state income tax. Make sure you choose the one with state if you need to prepare a state tax return. Many retailers sell TurboTax at lower prices than TurboTax direct sales. Often the prices are lower to draw customers to buy other things.

Because Amazon's platform allows all kinds of sellers to sell the same thing, buying Turbo Tax on Amazon can be a tricky thing.   First, Turbo Tax has a "store" on Amazon and that is the best place to start.   For any software you purchase you want to make sure that it says "Visit the Intuit Store" underneath the title (after you click on the product in the list).  Second, you want to make sure that it is Sold and Shipped from "Amazon.com Services."   If it comes from anywhere else chances are you gettting a pirated copy.   Amazon DOES sell legitimate prior years on their site, however prior years are not included in the Intuit Store.  Just make sure everything applies as stated above.

The desktop version gives you access to see your forms while you are working on them and
the online version does not.  Then again the online version lets you store your return on our secure server.  It really is a matter of personal choice.
