Living in WI but employed in CA. Had established tax residency in CA before moving to WI in the middle of the year. Which state tax returns do I file - CA, WI, or both?

I have been living in Madison, Wisconsin since September 2017, but my current employer is based in California. Prior to moving to Madison, I had established tax residency in California after spending six years there in graduate school. In this situation, which states do I need to file my tax returns for, Wisconsin, California, or both?

You will need to file part-year resident returns for both CA and WI.  Be sure to note in the My Info section of TurboTax that you lived in more than one state during the year.

Thank you. Just to make sure - I'll have to file part-year returns in both states, even though all my income during the year came from California. Is that correct?

Yes, part-year returns for the time lived in each state.  And, as long as you were not physically working in CA while living in WI, you should not have to file a non-resident return for the CA income you earned while living in WI.  Be sure that your employer is withholding WI taxes for you.
