Are you asking how to enter interest income earned outside of a qualified retirement plan?

If so, enter per the below steps:

  • Type in 1099-int the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying

  • Click the jump to 1099-int link in the search results

  • Follow to prompts and online instructions

Arrive at the Let's get your 1099-INT or brokerage statement details page

Type in the source of your income in the Received from field

Enter the interest income in Box #1 Interest income field

Make sure you are past the blue Pick up where I left off button before you enter the above

How is 1099 int nonqualified interest handled?

I have a corporate bond that has both qualified and non qualified interest for the year.  The non qualified amount is not part of the interest income listed on line 1 of my brokerage account 1099int. Instead the non qualified amount is listed in the next section down (below row 14) that is for interest adjustments.  The 8th row down in this section is where there is a category called "non qualified interest"--this is where it is listed. Yes, it is outside of a qualified retirement plan.

Yes I did.

How is 1099 int nonqualified interest handled?

Since the statement has been imported, can you tell if the interest is included on line
8A on the face of your 1040? Do you know how to view your 1040 online? If it is "1099-int", by definition, that is the spot where you should see it.

How is 1099 int nonqualified interest handled?

Any follow-up to this question? I imported my 1099 but TT did not put the non-qualified interest on the 1099-INT form. The consolidated 1099 says that this NQI is not reported to the IRS. Does that mean we don't have to report it?
