How do I separate my husband's 2016 income information from mine?

My husband and I got married in June 2017. In 2016, we filed separate returns. The "Income  Information" section is requesting information from the 2016 return, but does not specify whose 2016 information is being requested. Should we add together the numbers from our 2016 returns?

How do I separate my husband's 2016 income information from mine?

Based on the information that you provided in the comments above, TurboTax is asking for information from the 2016 tax return in order to calculate how much of the state refund is taxable. In this section, enter the information from only the 2016 tax return of the person who received the state refund and claimed itemized deductions for 2016. Do not add together the amounts from both of your 2016 tax returns. The 2016 information for the one who did not get a state refund is not used in this calculation.

In what part of the income section, what topic, is it asking for 2016 information? Why is it asking for it? What 2016 information is it asking for? The solution will be different depending on what the information is being used for.

State tax refund section.  We were not married in 2016, filed a Single, one claiming standard deduction and owing some tax while the other claimed itemized deduction and got a state refund.
