What is the product download issue that Support is telling me will cost $250 to fix?
I
purchased, 10/23/2016, a 3 year support package including Quicken until 2020
and TurboTax through 2017. Recently, I’m told TurboTax will not download due a
software issue that will involve another company and additional cost, $250.00,
to fix so it will download.
This is unacceptable.
Every time I call Support to activate a purchased service
I’m subjected to “up-selling” for one reason or another.
I would like an explanation and the delivery of the services
purchased.
To the best of my knowledge TurboTax has never offered any type of multi-year support package for any software. What website did you use to purchase this package? And what website are you using to contact TurboTax?
Sounds like you were calling a fake company that is scamming you. If you found a phone number on the internet then it was fake. Neither TT or Quicken charges for support or sends you to another company and will not install other programs to your computer.
Quicken doesn't charge more than $39 for support and support is free for the current versions. So if you are getting charged a big amount or someone is trying to sell you a program to clean or repair your computer that is not Quicken. There are several fake support places that are scamming you and will mess up your computer. And even though Quicken can probably do a screen share with you they can not touch or control your computer or download anything to it.
Never search for support help on Google, scammers are very good at buying ads that put their scams at the top of the result.
Turbotax Support can be accessed using the web form at the bottom of the page, this way you will get an authentic phone number.
If you want maximum help with your taxes, you can use Turbotax Live Online. It is the online program but with live access to a CPA or enrolled agent to help you. This is the most expensive version of Turbotax, at $149 to $179, but gives you guaranteed help from a legitimate tax pro.

People come to TurboTax AnswerXchange for help and answers—we want to let them know that we're here to listen and share our knowledge. We do that with the style and format of our responses. Here are five guidelines:
Keep it conversational. When answering questions, write like you speak. Imagine you're explaining something to a trusted friend, using simple, everyday language. Avoid jargon and technical terms when possible. When no other word will do, explain technical terms in plain English.
Be clear and state the answer right up front. Ask yourself what specific information the person really needs and then provide it. Stick to the topic and avoid unnecessary details. Break information down into a numbered or bulleted list and highlight the most important details in bold.
Be concise. Aim for no more than two short sentences in a paragraph, and try to keep paragraphs to two lines. A wall of text can look intimidating and many won't read it, so break it up. It's okay to link to other resources for more details, but avoid giving answers that contain little more than a link.
Be a good listener. When people post very general questions, take a second to try to understand what they're really looking for. Then, provide a response that guides them to the best possible outcome.
Be encouraging and positive. Look for ways to eliminate uncertainty by anticipating people's concerns. Make it apparent that we really like helping them achieve positive outcomes.
