So sorry for your loss.  If your spouse died during the year, you are considered married for the whole year and can choose married filing jointly as your filing status.  By filing as “Married Filing Jointly” you will each get the $4050 personal exemptions and the standard deduction of $12,700 for a married couple.  In the interview in Personal Info, you will need to enter that she passed away during the year.  (The question is something like "Do any of these apply to [her name?] }  Do you have any dependent children?  If so you can still file as a qualifying widower for the next two tax years.
