Hi guys! In 2015 I had a different mailing address. Amending my 2015 taxes, my W-2 "employee" address changes when I update my mailing address which has since changed.

Hi guys! I'm currently amending my 2015 taxes, and I update my current mailing address because I've moved states. I found when I do this, my W-2 "employee addresses" change to my current mailing address- but this is wrong because I didn't live there when I worked at those locations, and the original W-2 forms wouldn't show me at that address. Is there a way to keep current with my present mailing address while still having a prior address that's different than the one I currently have?

Thanks for your help!

Your 2015 W-2 forms have already been processed by the IRS, so it doesn't matter what address shows in TurboTax. The address on the W-2 never actually makes its way to your actual tax return. What does matter is the Employer ID, and the amounts shown on the W-2, which is matched by your Social Security Number, not your address.

You need to use your current address to file your amended return so that the IRS can contact you. This is something that does not need to be changed.
