MA: Entering Massachusetts Graduate and Undergraduate student loan interest paid

Some TurboTax customers are experiencing an issue when entering their Massachusetts Student Loan Interest paid.

On the screen titled Student Loan Interest:

  • The Total Student Loan Interest Paid (from the Federal Return) is reflected.
  • The Graduate Interest Paid field is blank.
  • The Undergraduate Interest Paid field automatically has the total amount from the federal return populated.

  • If some or all of the student loan interest paid is for a Graduate Program, enter that amount  in the Graduate Interest Paid box and select the Continue button.

The Graduate Student Loan interest should now reflect under the General Student Loan Interest Deduction.

If the number shown in the Undergraduate Student Loan Interest Deduction is incorrect, you can select the Back button and change the entered amounts to reflect to proper Graduate/Undergraduate numbers.
