I am filing a Decedents Estate Form 1041. The estate has a loss. The estate made a charitable contribution. Do we need to file a form 1041-A for the contribution?

It is not a trust but an estate return.  Do I still need to file form 1041-A?

It's advisable that you file the form to report the charitable contribution.  Even though the contribution does not affect the estate's taxes this year, it may be beneficial in 2017, and any unused deduction will pass on the estate beneficiaries when the estate is closed.
