When you enter your 1099-R for retirement income,you continue on after the entry of the form to answer the followup questions. One of them will ask if you are a retired public safety officer. Just say Yes there.

I have entered my information from my 1099-R but it doesnt ask if I'm a retired firefighter or public safety?
