E-file reject FW2-502: The name or EIN for an employer on your W-2 doesn't match IRS records

This rejection can occur if you mistyped your employer's name or EIN when you manually entered your W-2. It can also happen if your W-2 is incorrect or if your employer's info in the IRS database is wrong.

To fix this, you'll need to exit the TurboTax app and sign in to a browser:

  1. Sign out of the app by tapping the menu icon in the upper-left corner, then Sign Out.
  2. Open your browser (either on your device or a computer) and sign in at MyTurboTax.com with your app login.
  3. Fix and refile your return in TurboTax Online by following these instructions.
