Do I need to enter my FAFSA aid or scholarships as income?
We'll walk you through this as you enter your financial aid and expenses. We'll also figure out what counts as income and what doesn't, so you don't have to.
But for background, it depends on the type of aid you received and how you used it. Here are some general guidelines.
This is considered income:
- Earnings from a work-study award
- Any grant money spent on something other than education expenses
This is not considered income:
- Pell or other grant: As long as you're enrolled in a degree program and use it to pay for qualified education expenses, it's not considered income
- Student loans
