I got a CP2000 about 2014 1099-MISC that I totally forgot about. Can I fill out an amendment form from Turbotax?

My wife worked briefly as a music instructor in early 2014, and in 2015 when I filed for 2014 tax, I totally forgot about her "self-employed job as a music instructor. It was through this company, and we never received 1099 form from them.

Today, I got CP2000 form from IRS about this $7173, unreported 1099-MISC, and I owe them $3023...

First of all, I never received 1099MISC... AND how can tax I owe be almost half of the unreported income? I know there are deductibles I can make since she worked and prepared her lessons from home.

Can I still fill out an amend form through Turbotax? or I do have to pay 3023 full amount?

Yes, you can fill out an amended return with the information that you need to add. Remember you cannot e-file the return you will need to print and mail it in. Amended returns have to be printed and filed by mail.  It can take the IRS up to 12 weeks or longer to process them.   If you are due a larger refund than on your original return, your amended return should only show the difference and you will receive a separate check for it.  If you owe money on your amended return, it will show only the new amount owed, you will have to mail a check with the return.

Yes you can amend if the IRS letter says you can.  I sure would ask the company why you didn't get the 1099Misc.  Maybe they have the wrong address for you.

So, when I turn in amended return with CP2000 respond, do I send the check amount with them? or wait until they send me another notice with corrected amount?

To stop the interest and penalties that are accruing, it is recommended that you send the payment in that shows you owe once you amend your return as soon as you can.
