Do I need to pay again after fixing and resubmitting a rejected return?
After fixing and resubmitting a rejected return, TurboTax may prompt you to pay again.
However, you shouldn't have to re-pay your TurboTax Online or state software e-filing fee if you're re-filing a rejected return (unless you upgraded, in which case you would only be charged the upgrade price difference).
Here are 2 reasons why this may be happening:
- TurboTax is asking you how you want to pay additional taxes you owe.
- Rest assured, any taxes you owe were not charged or debited on your unsuccessful e-filing attempt. The government can only process an electronic payment on a return that has been successfully e-filed.
- You corrected one or more Social Security numbers on the return before resubmitting.
- This is a known issue and we are looking at ways to prevent this from occurring in the future. In the meantime, please contact us for further assistance.
