Error 1606 occurs when installing (or removing) TurboTax:
Could not access network location
Cause and Solution
This issue is caused by a damaged entry in your computer's system registry. To repair it, follow these instructions on the Microsoft Support site:
- Back up your system registry (Microsoft KB 322756).
- Modify your system registry (Microsoft KB 886549).
Important: Because of the serious problems that may arise if the registry is modified incorrectly, TurboTax cannot provide support for registry edits. If you need further assistance with registry edits, check with your system or network administrator (if you have one), the vendor from whom you purchased your hardware, the manufacturer's Web site, or a local computer consultant.
