Error: ".NET Framework Verification Tool can't be found" when installing or uninstalling TurboTax for Windows

.NET Framework Verification Tool can't be found occurs when installing or uninstalling TurboTax for Windows.

Alternately, if .NET Framework 4.x is not installed, you may see an error about a missing temporary file.

If our .NET Framework troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issue, these errors might not be due to a problem with the .NET framework. Instead, it could be that other software is preventing the TurboTax installer from creating necessary files.

See the troubleshooting steps below for your operating system.

Windows XP

  1. First, perform a Diagnostic Startup.
    1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    2. On the General tab, click Diagnostic Startup, and then click OK.
    3. Restart your computer.
  2. Attempt to install or uninstall TurboTax again.

Windows Vista, 7, or 8
