Error: "Failed to extract archive"
The Failed to extract archive error occurs when attempting to install a TurboTax software download or a manual update.
It is caused by a damaged file that became corrupted while it was being downloaded.
To resolve this issue:
- Delete the downloaded file.
- Search Windows for %temp% (include the percent characters) to locate the Temp folder.
- Open the Temp folder and then delete all folders starting with ckz__.
- Turn off antivirus software.
- Disable your firewall.
- Using a different browser, re-download your TurboTax program or manual update, then try installing again.
- Remember to re-enable your antivirus and firewall after a successful installation.
If the same error persists, follow Steps 1–3, restart your computer in selective startup mode, and then complete the remaining steps.
