Do I need to enter Form 5498-SA?

SOLVEDby TurboTax37472Updated 2 weeks ago

Form 5498-SA is for informational purposes only, so you don’t need to enter it into TurboTax.

The 5498-SA reports contributions to:

  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
  • Archer Medical Savings Accounts (MSA)
  • Medicare Advantage Medical Savings Accounts

If you contributed to one of these accounts separate from company contributions, refer to the following instructions to enter them into TurboTax:

Note: If your TurboTax looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

  1. Go to the Deductions & Credits section under the Federal heading.
  2. Scroll down to the Medical section, then select Start next to HSA, MSA Contributions.
  3. Select your type of account on the next screen, then select Continue.
  4. Answer Yes or No to Did you use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for anything in 2023?
  5. Enter the information from your 1099-SA, then select Continue.
  6. Progress through the remaining screens until all your information has been completed.

We recommend that you keep your Form 5498-SA with your tax records.
