Last Year's Tax Return Doesn't Appear for Transferring

Last year's tax return file doesn't appear when you try to transfer last year's data to this year's tax return in TurboTax for Desktop.

Possible Causes and Solutions

Here are the most common reasons why last year's tax return doesn't appear on this screen:

  • Last year's tax return file exists in a location other than the default location.
    1. First, find your tax file. Windows | Mac
    2. Once you know where to find it, click the Browse Files... link in TurboTax to browse to the file's location.
    3. Select the file and open it
  • Last year's return is on a different computer. You'll need to move it to your current computer or install TurboTax on the old computer.
