How do I get credit for estimated tax payments?
In TurboTax, you'll enter all your estimated tax payments – including state and local payments – on your federal return.
We do it this way so we can figure out if you're able to deduct any state/local taxes on your federal return.
When you start on your state or local return, those payments will transfer over so you can get credit.
To enter your estimated tax payments, search for estimates paid (use this exact term) in your TurboTax program's search box near the top of your screen.
This will take you to the Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid section where you can then enter your federal, state, and/or local estimated tax payments as well as other tax payments you may have made.
