My husband filed his 2017 taxes as "Married Filing Separately." Soon after, I went to file my taxes separately and found out that I would owe the IRS. Instead of continuing to file separately, we amended his tax return to include me and change the filing status to "Married Filing Jointly." Now that we are trying to file our 2018 taxes, the software is asking for my AGI. Everywhere I have looked says to use your original AGI, even if you amended your tax return with the IRS. The issue is, I never filed an "original" return. I'm only included on his amended return. With that being said, what would be my AGI? Do we use $0 since I never filed a 1040 for 2017? OR do we use the joint AGI from the amended return 1040X that includes both of us? I've tried calling the IRS but I cannot get a live person on the phone. Thanks so much in advance for the help!
