How do I create W-2 and 1099 forms in TurboTax? TurboTax Self-Employed, TurboTax Self-Employed Live, TurboTax Home & Business (Window version only), and TurboTax Business can create and print out W-2 and 1099-MISC forms for employees and contractors. TurboTax Business CD/Download software Follow these directions if you want to generate W-2 or 1099-MISC forms to be paper-filed. If you want to e-file your W-2s or 1099-MISCs and/or you need to file forms 1099-DIV or 1099-INT, use Quick Employer Forms instead. Launch TurboTax Business. If you're already working on a tax return, you'll need to close it. Select New Tax Return from the File menu in the upper-left corner, then answer Yes to save the return you currently have open. On the opening screen that has a picture of 3 people, click the Prepare W-2/1099 button (you may need to scroll down). On the next screen, click Choose Desktop and follow the onscreen instructions. .

Once a tax return has been filed it cannot be changed, canceled or retrieved. You will have to wait for the IRS to start accepting or rejecting 2020 tax return on February 12, 2021 If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again. If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2020 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/01/27577

How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing? You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file: Open or continue your return. Select Tax Tools in the left menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner). With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then: Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, Save, or Preview This Year's Return (you may be asked to register or pay first). View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.

The answer depends on which option you used ... the QEF will not allow you to print the forms to mail ... you must click on the efile button. If you did not use the QEF tool and instead choose to fill them in on your computer then everything must be mailed. See this TurboTax support FAQ for Quick Employer Forms - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forms/help/how-do-i-create-w-2-and-1099-forms-in-turbotax/01/25869 If you are using the built in W2/1099 Reporter in Windows Home & Business program instead of the QEF you can not efile them. You have to print and mail them. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/7091278

Box 14 — Employers can use this W-2 box to report information such as: State disability insurance taxes withheld Union dues Uniform payments Health insurance premiums deducted Nontaxable income Educational assistance payments A member of the clergy’s parsonage allowance and utilities Charitable contributions made through payroll deduction Railroad employers use this W-2 box to report: RRTA compensation Tier I tax Tier II tax Medicare tax Additional Medicare tax Since there’s no standard list of W2 codes for Box 14, employers can list any description they choose. If the code is unclear, contact your employer and ask what the code represents.

Ask your employer ... they can use box 14 for anything they want to put there. Of course box 14 is informational only in most cases and as such you can simply use the other category in the program.

Did you file the 2020 return saying you did not get the check and it just came in the mail ??? If so there is nothing you need to do ... the IRS will catch the error automatically but it could extend the processing time.

You will report the $23K as the sales price and the $21,500 ($20K + $1500) as cost basis netting a capital gain of $1500. What you "walk away with" is immaterial on an income tax return.

Check a couple of times a week to see if that is updated ... since the IRS will not start processing returns until at least 2/12 we will have to be patient. If the form is listed in the missing list in the Federal review then the option to get a email may be available but I highly doubt it will show yet.
