Dont waste your time. Its total garbage. You'll end up being forced in an infinite death spiral of manual keying dates in that will never resolve in TT because the Robinhood upload is not structured correctly. Worst of all TT is sooo F-ing slow with too many click throughs you'll have to take a day off of work just to sit there and wait for their horrific UI to cycle because they make you page through all your transactions to edit them rather than putting them all on one infinite scrolling page. Its truly one of the worst user experiences imaginable and aligns very well with the newly minted reputation of Robinhood, who has defamed their very own meaning of their name.

I entered the same w2 twice, and filed. Will IRS reject my return? Has this happened to anyone?

The amount of a federal tax refund is on Form 1040 Line 20.

I think the point of the question, and I have the same one, is how to avoid entering all the deductions. After all that's the whole advantage to the standard deduction. If I have to enter all that stuff anyway, the advantage is lost!

If you used the online version last year and need to transfer your info to this year's Desktop version there are 2 ways depending on what you have. 1. If you saved the actual .tax2018 file (not just the pdf file) to your computer then start a new return and the very first thing you do is Transfer from .tax file. You can only transfer at the very beginning. 2. If you didn't save the .tax file to your computer or lost it, there is a way to do it by starting your return in the Online version, transfer to that and then continue in the desktop version. You won't have to pay for Online. Since you are the spouse and you lived in the house before you sold it you report the sale of the house
Federal
Wages & Income
Less Common Income
Sale of Home
If your house was jointly owned you receive a step up in basis for 50% of the house to the date of death of your spouse. Currently if you sold the house at a gain and owned it for 5 years and lived there for at least 2 of those 5 years, $250,000 of gain on the house is not taxable, since you are filing as Single.
If you sold the house at a loss, the loss is not deductible on a personal residence.

What self-employment? If all of your income is reported on a W-2 and none on a 1099-MISC or other statement, then you don't have any self-employment income.
It sounds as if you are trying to deduct unreimbursed employee business expenses. As you may be aware, the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 eliminated these deductions for nearly all taxpayers, EXCEPT qualified performing artists.
What is a qualified performing artist?
"
Qualified performing artist.
You are a qualified performing artist if you:
Performed services in the performing arts as an employee for at least two employers during the tax year,
Received from at least two of the employers wages of $200 or more per employer,
Had allowable business expenses attributable to the performing arts of more than 10% of gross income from the performing arts, and
Had adjusted gross income of $16,000 or less before deducting expenses as a performing artist.
" See IRS Pub 529.
If you are a qualified performing artist, to enter these deductions, do a Search for 2106 and click on the jump-to link.
