How old were the kids on 12/31/2019 ? If they were over the age of 16 then you do not qualify for any more stimulus if you are a married couple.

No the program doesn't do a waiver ... once the IRS bills you for the penalty you must beg for a waiver which may or may not be allowed especially if you have done this more than once without a valid excuse. Purposely under withholding is not a good strategy especially at todays savings account interest rates.

Sounds like you did not review the return before you filed it ... now would be a good time to do so. Make sure the child is on page 1 of the form 1040 as qualified for the CTC and not an other dependent. After a return has been efiled and accepted, it can sometimes take the return PDF a while to update and become available at the Tax Home landing screen. If you can't use the Download/print button at the Tax Home or the "Download/print the PDF" link in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents", OR if you're getting incomplete documents when you use one of those methods, here's an alternate way to print by opening the filed return back up to print at the Print Center. NOTE: When you open your return back up, do not make any changes in it if it's already been filed. If you later have to amend the return, it has to start off exactly as it was when it was originally filed. Log in and at the Tax Home or in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" for 2019, look for a link "Add a State." Click on "Add a State." (you don't really add one. That's just to open your return back up.) After the return is open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then PRINT CENTER. Then choose "Print, save, view this year's return." The next screen should offer some options: "Just my tax returns", or "include government worksheets (optional)", or "include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional.)" See if one of those PDFs has what you need. The latter has the most pages. NOTE: Remember all PDF tax documents and tax data files are very sensitive files, since they contain your personal ID info, financial data, and possibly bank account numbers, etc. Be sure to store them safely and securely to guard against computer theft, hacking, etc.

Distributions of original contributions from a ROTH can be taken tax and penalty free at any time. The earnings can be subject to tax and/or penalties. Converted amounts have different rules on the ordering of distributions ... I suggest you read the IRS pub 590b for all the distribution rules : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p590b.pdf

Key word is PROPOSED ... change will only come once congress passes the law and the president signs it ... the nuts and bolts of these changes have not been released yet so who knows what will happen and when.

If you have already filed it is too late ... the IRS will make the correction for you automatically. Can I change my return if I already submitted it and you’re holding it until the IRS opens? No. Once you submit your return, it’s considered to be in pending status. We’ll hold all returns submitted before the IRS opens and submit them when the IRS is open. Once the IRS either accepts or rejects your return: If your return is accepted: If you want to change your return, you’ll need to amend it. If your return is rejected: We'll send you an email to notify you, along with instructions on what to do. You can then open your return and make any changes you would like. Just be sure to fix the reason the return was rejected as well. The IRS is not accepting returns at this time, so it can sometimes take longer than the initial 24-48 hours before you know if they have accepted or rejected your return. This generally happens around this time when e-filing has not opened yet. Keep in mind, they will not officially start accepting e-filed returns until February 12th. A few may be accepted early to start testing their systems, but they would not start processing until on or after 2/12/21.
