Yes, you along with everyone else. No one who claims these credits will see anything until mid to late February, it sucks but it's true for all of us.

Someone at my husbands job claims she already got hers but I would bet there is some reason, maybe the father claimed the kids or something like that.

I don't think they could access my maiden name which is what they'd need, I don't know if they just filed it once again in my married name or what they did but evidently the one I filed went through first because it was accepted.

That will make me furious if my return gets held up because of those crooks! We rely on that money each year, they will definitely hear from me!

H&R had it where we had to pay the penalty for one member of our household not having health insurance, it was going to be $700 off of our refund. Turbo tax found an exemption where H&R did not answer they saved us $700 bucks!

@Spartan And here's mine: 2016- $3,544 2017- $3,896 2018- $4,312 2019- $6,879 Keep making America Great Again! There will always be people who have problems with change. That's never going to end. But the greater good is what counts. I'm sorry if some of you had to take a hit so that millions would do better but that's life. The greater good will always come first.

@bzbee08 Of course it's going to affect some people, but the people it's was meant to help (lower and middle class) it should not have caused much of a change to unless they didn't adjust. I'd like to see where that was proven false. There will never be anything that helps everyone, in order to help some you have to take away from others. In this case to help people struggling the people with more money had to take the hit. There is no one size fits all when it comes to taxes so yes, of course it's going to affect some more than others in a negative way.

You couldn't itemize business expenses and such but the TCJA offset that by DOUBLING standard deductions. So if you truly were lower to middle class it should not have affected you much at all. People who make more money sure, but what TCJA was meant to do was help the people who needed help.

It also seems like people don't seem to comprehend how taxes work. If you aren't getting as much back it's usually because you didn't overpay. The refund you get is the money you OVERPAID to the government. By overpaying you are basically giving the government an interest free loan. You may have gotten less back but it means you paid in closer to what you should have and you didn't overpay. If you ended up owing money then you obviously did not adjust your withholdings like you are supposed to EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Don't blame the government on your mistakes. But Ifor you did end up with a smaller refund it also means you probably had more each paycheck, which really is the better way to do it. If someone has $100 taken out a month that is that much less on their check, if that person falls on hard times and has to get a small loan to make it until next paycheck they end up paying fees and interest on that money that they could have had if they didn't have it taken from their check to be put in a government account until tax time. See the pattern? It's much better to have your money now rather than get a larger sum at the beginning of the year.
