I just am not sure if I can do installments later if I choose credit /debit option now . And should I call IRS right away for setting up an installment plan ? or after filing my taxes?

You can do either, regardless of whether you choose to send a check or use the credit/debit option now, you will still be able to set up a payment plan if you did not pay the amount in full.   You can wait to decide after you have called the IRS.

It would be best to wait until after you have sent in your return and it is acknowledged as received by the IRS before calling, they will not have any information on the return to be able to work with you if you call before.

Once you call, they will work with you to set up the arrangement and you can determine how you would like to pay at that time.  To contact the IRS to set up a payment plan, call 800-829-1040.
