HELP! I set up a payment plan, but the fees and interest involved is not worth it. Can I still pay in full and wave these penalties?

As noted above, I set a payment plan without realizing how much extra it would cost.  Am I still going to get these fees if I pay in full before anything has been deducted from my checking account?

If you pay your tax liability in full before the tax year deadline, this year April 18th 2017, you will not be charged penalties or interest.  To cancel your payment if you have already filed you can call the IRS customer service line at 1 800 829 1040.  By calling that number, they can also give you instructions on how to pay so it reflects in your account the same day.

Hi Melanie!  Thanks for your help.  You were speedy on answering my question.  In the meantime I did file a direct payment through the IRS's website for the full amount of which I owe.  Should this resolve the problem, or do I still need to contact the IRS to let them know I don't intend on using their payment plan (although this should be obvious, seeing I just payed in full).

You are very welcome.  This should resolve the problem.  However, if they have not taken it out by the 19th, please follow up with them at the number I gave ok.
